USGBC LEED
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC: www.usgbc.org) is a national nonprofit organization, which promotes sustainability in how buildings are designed, built, and operated. Their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system is a framework for assessing and recognizing those facilities that meet important sustainability goals. LEED Accredited Professionals, like the staff at Calvert-Jones, can show you how to make your building “green” and how to get the USGBC LEED certification that shows you’re a progressive part of the solution. Calvert-Jones can be your single-source provider for LEED certification, from bench-marking to upgrading to certification. The following is an overview of their rating definitions and process:
EB/NC
The LEED’s The LEED’s Existing Building (EB) Rating System is a nationally recognized standard by which existing buildings can measure their energy efficiency, carbon-footprint, and eco-friendliness. Calvert-Jones has a significant role in helping you reach the plateau of a certified LEED EB facility or even help your facility reach the prestigious level of LEED Platinum certification. LEED also has a category for smart, efficient, eco-friendly “green” systems for new construction (NC). These popular systems are no longer out of reach. As part of your construction team, Calvert-Jones will assist you with your green construction project and spearhead the LEED NC certification process.
Benchmark & Registration
The first step in the process for existing buildings is to assess the building in terms of the LEED rating system. This involves bringing in a credible source, like Calvert-Jones, who can report on your building’s current condition and how your facility rates on a LEED scorecard. Once Calvert-Jones shows you where you currently stand in relation to LEED and what you can do to achieve LEED certification, we can help you begin the registration process.
